12 things to do in the lead up to your wedding day
I’ve seen a lot of posts and queries pop up recently from brides and couples talking about how stressed they are being 6/9/12 weeks out from their wedding day.
So stressed that they can’t think straight and are looking for advice on what they should be doing to double and triple check their plans and arrangements and figure out what they may have missed.
So today’s blog is about all of that - what you need to know and check before your big day! Read on for the 12 things you should be doing 6-8 weeks out from your wedding day 👇
Sign your NOIM
This needs to be lodged AT LEAST one month before your wedding date. If your celebrant is on to this, it’ll already be done. If not, you better hop to it!
Collate your RSVP’s
6-8 weeks before your wedding is the date you should have given guests to RSVP by. Start collating responses and working on your seating charts + stationery requirements based on your final guest numbers + attendees. This is the time to chasing those that haven’t sent back their RSVPs too.
Put together your emergency kits
As planners, we’re always prepared for any and every situation. If you don’t have a planner, you need an emergency kit (or two!) on the day of your wedding - just in case something goes wrong. It is better to be prepared than not!
Wondering what to put in your emergency kit? Check out our Emergency Kit blog here and download the printable while you’re there 😉
Complete your outfit checks
Try on your attire (both of you!) and break in your shoes. Depending on when your dress is ready to be picked up, this may not happen until a couple of weeks before your wedding day. Make sure all your wedding party also does the same so any alterations or adjustments can be made before the day. Don’t forget the kids!
Log out of work
This is entirely dependent on when you’re finishing up work before the wedding, but make sure you have completed any final tasks and projects due before your annual leave and that you’ve completed a handover if needed. Clear to-do list = clear mind!
Finalise your run sheet
This is the holy grail document on your wedding day to ensure everyone knows where and what they need to do - a wedding day has a lot of moving parts! This needs to be completed after you have confirmed all your vendors and is then to be circulated to all those vendors so they are across every detail for your day.
Need run sheet help? (or to have it done for you?) Book a Personalised Prep Sesh (it’s our one-off planning session) and let’s do it together!
Finish your song selections
Have you sent a list of your favourite songs to your DJ/band yet? If you’re wanting any specific songs played on your day, now is the time to send them through to your chosen musicians!
Finalise any remaining payments
Most outstanding invoices for booked vendors will be due in this time frame. Make sure you’re well across which invoices are due and when, and if possible - pay them earlier to clear them from your to-do list!
Write your vows
Now is definitely the time to start thinking about your vows if you haven’t already. Write from the heart and break it up into little bits at a time if you find yourself getting overwhelmed. Your celebrant is a great person to talk vows with if you are feeling stuck.
Trust your vendors
If you’re having doubts or just need something queried - contact the vendor you need. We’re here to help and we’ll go out of your way to make your dream day the best day of your life. This is our job, so letting us do that with complete faith and trust, means we can deliver the best experience and service to you.
Relax and breathe
It’s your wedding day! It’s going to amazing no matter what and even if things go wrong or awry, that’s what makes your day yours ❤️ (and you may have a few great stories to tell your kids and grandkids one day!)
